Visa-Free and Easy Visa Countries for Pakistani Expats Living in Dubai/UAE

Visa-Free and Easy Visa Countries for Pakistani Expats Living in Dubai/UAE

Updated: 15 September 2026

If you’re a Pakistani passport holder living in Dubai or the UAE, your UAE residence visa can open up travel opportunities that aren’t always available to Pakistan-based applicants. Depending on the destination and your documents, you may qualify for visa-free entry, a visa on arrival, or an online visa application.

This guide covers visa-free countries for Pakistani expats in UAE, alongside destinations offering tourist visas on arrival and e-visas. Your passport nationality, residence permit validity and travel history can affect eligibility. UAE residency does not automatically make every destination visa-free.

Why Is It Easier to Travel with a UAE Residence Visa?

Some countries offer entry exemptions specifically to holders of qualifying UAE residence permits. Others accept online visa applications from Pakistani citizens regardless of where they live.

The important distinction is whether your destination accepts your Pakistani passport alone, requires UAE residency, or needs another supporting document. A UAE residence visa can help you qualify for certain routes, but it does not guarantee visa approval or entry.

Visa-Free, Visa on Arrival and E-Visa: What Is the Difference?

  • Visa-free: You do not need a visa when you meet the destination’s exemption conditions.

  • Visa on arrival: A visa is issued at the destination, subject to eligibility and entry checks.

  • E-visa or ETA: You apply online for a visa or travel authorization. A free ETA still requires authorization; it is not the same as unconditional visa-free entry.

The sections below explain these routes and link to the relevant official sources.

1. Georgia

Georgia is known for its nature, culture and mountain scenery, making it an appealing getaway for Pakistani residents of Dubai.

Pakistani passport holders can qualify for visa-free entry using a UAE visa or residence permit, but the qualifying document must have at least one year of remaining validity on the date of entry. Where entry is based on a UAE visa, the embassy specifies a multiple-entry visa.

The permitted visa-free stay is 90 calendar days within any 180-day period. A residence permit with less than one year remaining does not qualify under this Pakistani-nationality exemption; the embassy directs travelers in that situation to apply for a tourist visa.

Carry your passport and qualifying residency documents, together with accommodation details, return travel arrangements and any required insurance or financial evidence. Final admission is decided by Georgian immigration.

Check the conditions on the Georgian Embassy in UAE website.

2. Azerbaijan

A quick online visa process makes Azerbaijan a practical option for Pakistani nationals looking to explore Baku and its surroundings.

Pakistani passport holders are eligible for the ASAN e-visa. This eligibility is based on nationality, so UAE residency is not essential.

  • Entry type: Single-entry e-visa.

  • Permitted stay: Up to 30 days.

  • Standard processing: Normally three working days.

  • Standard portal fee: Currently US$29, comprising a US$20 government fee and US$9 service fee.

Urgent processing is available at a different fee. Check the amount shown by the official portal before paying, and apply with enough time before your departure.

Apply through the official Azerbaijan e-visa portal, and check its eligible-country list.

--------------------------------------

3. Armenia

Armenia offers mountain landscapes, historic monasteries and cultural experiences for travelers from the UAE.

Under the current temporary exemption, Pakistani nationals with a qualifying UAE residence permit can travel without an Armenian visa if their permit has at least six months of remaining validity from the date of entry.

  • Exemption period: 1 July 2026 to 1 July 2027.

  • Permitted stay: Up to 180 days within a one-year period.

  • Residency proof: A physical residence card or residence sticker in the passport that meets the stated document requirements.

Do not rely only on a digital residency screenshot. Check that your physical document contains the identifying and validity information required by the Armenian authorities.

Pakistan appears on the official eligible-nationality list. Confirm the exemption and document conditions with the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

--------------------------------------

4. Qatar

With events, beaches and modern attractions, Qatar is a convenient regional travel option. However, Pakistani travelers should not assume that UAE residency guarantees visa-free entry or a visa on arrival.

A visa-on-arrival suspension for Pakistani nationals was reported in March–April 2026. Before booking, obtain current confirmation of the route available for your nationality and residence status.

Use the official Hayya system to check the appropriate application category. Where advance authorization is required, obtain approval before departure and follow the accommodation and document requirements shown for your application.

Check the official Hayya portal. Background on the suspension is available in EY’s April 2026 notice.
--------------------------------------

5. Oman

Oman is a popular getaway from the UAE, offering coastal scenery, mountains and cultural attractions.

Pakistani UAE residents should check the applicable visa category through the Royal Oman Police e-visa system. Depending on the route, conditions may involve your nationality, GCC residence status, profession and document validity.

Do not assume that a UAE residence visa automatically provides 14-day visa-free entry. Confirm the visa category and its conditions for your individual circumstances, including whether you are traveling by road or air.

Check the Royal Oman Police visa eligibility system.

--------------------------------------

6. Bahrain

Bahrain is another regional option for short holidays, business visits and family trips.

Before traveling, use Bahrain’s official visa system to check whether your Pakistani passport and UAE residence status qualify for an e-visa or an arrival facility.

A valid UAE residence permit alone should not be treated as a guarantee of visa on arrival. Follow the nationality, residency, supporting-document and permitted-stay conditions shown for the available visa category.

Check eligibility and apply through the official Bahrain e-visa portal.

--------------------------------------

7. Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka welcomes travelers with beaches, tea plantations, wildlife and historic attractions.

Pakistani nationals are currently eligible for a free 30-day tourist ETA, under the official fee-waiver arrangement effective from 25 May 2026.

This is a tourist authorization with a waived fee. It should not be described as unrestricted visa-free entry. Apply through the official ETA system before departure and carry your approval and supporting travel documents.

Check the official tourist ETA fee notice and apply through the Sri Lanka ETA portal. Different rules may apply to business travel or longer stays.

--------------------------------------

8. Maldives

Enjoy tropical beaches and island resorts with a tourist visa issued on arrival, subject to immigration clearance. Pakistani tourists do not need advance tourist visa approval when they meet the entry requirements.

The standard tourist arrival facility is generally described as up to 30 days. The period granted is determined at entry.

Prepare your passport, confirmed return or onward tickets, prepaid accommodation at a registered facility and sufficient funds, or an approved sponsorship where applicable.

Every arriving traveler, including children, must submit an individual IMUGA Traveller Declaration within the official 96-hour window before arrival. The declaration is free.

This tourist facility is not dependent on holding UAE residency. Check Maldives Immigration’s tourist entry requirements and complete the declaration through official IMUGA.

--------------------------------------

9. Albania

Albania offers coastal scenery, historic towns and mountain landscapes. However, not every Pakistani UAE resident qualifies for visa-free entry.

The UAE-residency exemption listed by Albania’s Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs applies to holders of a 10-year UAE residence permit with at least one year remaining at entry.

Separate exemptions are listed for qualifying Schengen, EU, US and UK visas or residence permits. These involve specific conditions, including prior use for applicable documents.

If you hold an ordinary UAE residence visa and do not meet another exemption, do not assume you can travel without an Albanian visa.

Check the official Albanian entry exemptions. Where a visa is required, use the official Albania e-visa system.

--------------------------------------

10. Montenegro

Montenegro attracts travelers with its Adriatic coastline, mountain scenery and historic towns.

Before booking, confirm whether the current rules provide an exemption for your Pakistani passport and UAE residence circumstances. Do not assume that every UAE resident qualifies, or that an e-visa is automatically available.

Ask the Montenegrin authorities to confirm your eligibility, permitted stay, document requirements and any conditions affecting your travel dates or route.

Consult the Montenegrin government’s UAE information page or contact the embassy before making non-refundable arrangements.

Other Countries That Require a Visa or Supporting Documents

Schengen Countries

Pakistani passport holders generally need a Schengen visa for short tourist visits. UAE residency alone does not provide visa-free entry.

Apply through the appropriate country’s official process and provide the requested accommodation, financial, employment, insurance and travel documents. UAE residency does not guarantee approval or establish a higher approval rate for your application.

United Kingdom

UAE residency alone does not provide visa-free tourist entry to the UK. Check the applicable requirements using the official UK visa checker.

Applications are assessed individually. A clear application and suitable supporting documents are important, but approval should never be promised.

Türkiye

Pakistani ordinary passport holders require a visa. Those with a qualifying valid Schengen, US, UK or Ireland visa or residence permit may be eligible for a one-month, single-entry Turkish e-visa.

UAE residency alone does not meet this supporting-document condition. Check and satisfy all requirements shown for your application on the official Turkish e-visa portal. The nationality rule is explained by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Malaysia

Malaysia offers an online visa application system. Pakistani travelers should check the applicable category and documentation through the official Malaysian MyVisa portal.

Do not assume UAE residency guarantees faster processing or approval. Allow time for assessment and any requests for additional documents.

Does a US, UK or Schengen Visa Open More Travel Options?

A qualifying visa or residence permit from another country can provide additional options, but each destination sets its own conditions.

Check whether the supporting document must be multiple-entry, previously used, valid for a minimum period, or a residence permit rather than a visa. One valid supporting visa does not create the same exemption everywhere.

Documents to Check Before Traveling

Prepare the documents required for your destination and route. These may include:

  • Your Pakistani passport with the required remaining validity.

  • Your UAE residence permit and physical Emirates ID, where relevant.

  • Approved e-visa, ETA or other authorization, if required.

  • Return or onward tickets.

  • Confirmed accommodation.

  • Proof of sufficient funds.

  • Travel or medical insurance where required.

  • Documents for children and any required parental consent.

  • Supporting foreign visas or residence permits used for an exemption.

Check transit-country requirements and confirm that you can return to the UAE using your current documents. Each family member’s eligibility should be checked separately.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Which countries are visa-free for Pakistani expats with UAE residency?

A. Georgia and Armenia offer conditional exemptions for qualifying Pakistani UAE residents. Albania also lists an exemption for qualifying 10-year UAE residence permits. Check each country’s conditions above; ordinary UAE residency does not qualify everywhere.

Q. Is Georgia visa-free for Pakistani nationals living in Dubai?

A. It can be, if the qualifying UAE visa or residence permit has at least one year remaining at entry. The permitted stay is 90 days within any 180-day period. A shorter remaining residency period does not meet this exemption.

Q. Can Pakistani UAE residents visit Armenia without a visa?

A. Under the current temporary arrangement, they can qualify with a UAE residence permit valid for at least six months from entry. The exemption runs from 1 July 2026 to 1 July 2027. The required physical residency document must be presented.

Q. Can Pakistani residents in UAE get an Azerbaijan e-visa?

A. Yes. Pakistan is on the official ASAN e-visa eligible-country list. This eligibility is based on Pakistani nationality, rather than requiring UAE residency.

Q. Do Pakistani passport holders need a visa for Qatar if they live in Dubai?

A. Do not assume UAE residency gives visa-free entry or visa on arrival. Check your current route through Hayya and obtain advance approval where required before traveling.

Q. How can Pakistani expats in Dubai apply for an Oman e-visa?

A. Use the Royal Oman Police eligibility system to identify the category available for your nationality and residence status. Follow its document and category conditions, including any applicable profession requirements.

Q. Is Sri Lanka’s tourist ETA free for Pakistani citizens?

A. Yes. The official notice includes Pakistan in the free 30-day tourist ETA arrangement effective from 25 May 2026. You still need to follow the authorization process and entry requirements.

Q. Do Pakistani tourists need a visa before traveling to Maldives?

A. Advance tourist visa approval is not required when they meet the arrival requirements. They must still prepare their travel documents and submit the free individual IMUGA Traveller Declaration in the required window.

Q. Is Albania visa-free with an ordinary UAE residence visa?

A. Do not assume so. The published UAE-residency exemption specifies a 10-year residence permit with at least one year remaining. A traveler may instead qualify under another listed exemption.

Q. Can Pakistani passport holders get a Turkish e-visa from Dubai?

A. They may qualify with an accepted valid Schengen, US, UK or Ireland visa or residence permit, subject to the application requirements. UAE residency alone is not the qualifying supporting document.

Q. Is Bahrain visa-free for Pakistani UAE residents?

A. UAE residency does not provide a blanket visa-free entitlement. Check the official Bahrain system for the e-visa or arrival options available to your individual circumstances.

Q. Does visa-free eligibility guarantee entry?

A. No. Immigration authorities decide admission at the border. Carry the required documents and confirm the current rules with the destination and airline before departure.
